Have you ever searched for a business on Google Maps and been amazed by the detailed results you get showing a picture of the business, their hours, their specialty products, etc.? What you're seeing is not just a result of the business being popular on Google (it may not even be popular on Google yet). You are seeing information that someone at that business has voluntarily entered into their Google Account about the business they own or manage.
This is a great, free advertising feature!
Go to Google Maps and search for a general business in your town. Something like "Pizza, Traverse City, MI." The list of results you get will vary, but something noticeable will appear. Some businesses have photos right in the results, and some have reviews people have written. Click on one of the lettered bubbles located on the map that corresponds with the lettered results in the list. Then click on 'more info...' in that popup window. Did you realize that you could get this kind of free advertising courtesy of Google?
This is a great way to differentiate your business from your competitor. It's kind of like getting a half page ad in the phone book, only for free. If you haven't already, now is a good time to register your business on Google Maps.
