Summer has finally arrived and the Byte team has been enjoying the great outdoors. Living and working in Northern Michigan is like a dream come true for most of us and we take any chance we can get to go outside and soak in some rays.
Last week was the annual Smart Commute Week hosted by the Tart Trails. The weeklong celebration of bikes, carpools & muffin breakfasts, in our opinion, was a huge success. The Tart Trails mission of promoting active transportation in Traverse City was certainly accomplished with thousands of residents smart commuting to and from work.
Our team was also excited to participate in the Smart Commute Week Challenge. Where over fifty local teams battled for the highest percentage of smart commuters and to win the beautifully crafted bicycle trophy. Although we did not win, our team did an awesome job and had a 95% participation rate. Go team! We also calculated that a total of 168 miles were biked by our team last week alone.
Participating in this year’s Smart Commute Week was a great experience for our team and now more employees will be smart commuting to work for the rest of the summer. If you didn't participate this year, make sure to sign-up a team in 2014. Saving gas money and the environment as well as the tremendous health benefits of staying active should be a great incentive to motivate your team!
